Feeling we needed a break after the holiday in Texas, we decided to take a long weekend in Cornwall. We booked a cheap and cheerful Travelodge in Wadebridge for two nights, leaving on Saturday morning and returning on bank holiday Monday night.
Saturday and Sunday : We went to the beach in Daymar Bay.
This was the nearest beach so we went twice. The ladies went for a swim. I thought it was way too cold - or at least my miswired nerves thought so. Mostly, I just wanted to collect smooth pieces of slate and photograph the sunset. Mission accomplished!

Sunday : The Eden Project.
This was Sunday’s main event. An amazing place but the weather made it brutally hot inside the biomes. I’d like to go back at some point and do that zip line thing that runs above it.

Sunday : Had Lunch at the Jamaica Inn in Bolventor.
This is a famous inn, known for its association with smuggling, being haunted, and Daphne du Maurier’s novel of the same name. The food was good, but the beer was better.

Monday : Cornish Seal Sanctuary.
This was one for Cheri and the daughters mostly. My battery died shortly after we arrived so I didn’t get many good photos.

Monday : Porthleven to eat at Dan Dan, The lobster Man’s shack.
Absolutely loved Porthleven. I wouldn’t mind retiring in a place like this. I was hoping for a lobster roll, but it wasn’t available for some reason so I had a trio of seafood tacos instead. They were excellent!

Monday : Tintagel Castle.
Now, this was one for me. I do love a good castle ruin and this one is associated with King Arthur. The views are spectacular and the bridge across the chasm is a treat. Sadly my hips weren’t cooperating so I couldn’t walk all the way up to see the sculpture of Arthur. I’ll have to go back one day.
