AI and This Site
Whist I do use AI (Gemini and ChatGPT) occasionally for research and learning, it’s mostly because of the degredation of search engines like Google.
I don’t use AI in any form to generate content for this website. Doing so would be gross, and defeat the purpose of having a blog in the first place. I also, as an engineer, wouldn’t dream of writing code of any sort with AI.
AI in General
In general, I think “AI” is a horrifically over-hyped technology. At best just the latest trend, at worst a tech bubble waiting to burst. LLMs can be useful but how many do we really need? Machine learning has real, practical uses. The major cloud providers filling up their conferences with cursed AI talks, and every tech tool suddenly having AI features - is infuriating and unneded.
